Der Movement weeps.

Shhh…don’t tell Der Movement!

Putting aside all of the ancient data and ancient-modern comparisons, which, of course, refute Der Movement, and, given Der Movement’s refusal to discuss these data, demonstrating the “movement’s” fundamental dishonesty, let’s consider the figure most historically recent, comparing modern West Eurasian populations to Medieval Romans.

Note how all areas of Italy, including Sicily, but excluding Sardinia (the genetic uniqueness of which is well known), tend to be more similar than is any other region. Thus, all of these areas of Italy genetically converge upon medieval Romans to a greater degree than any other group does, suggesting greater intra-Italian genetic affinity compared to affinities of Italian regions to other populations. Considered another way, these areas of Italy are (significantly) genetically closer to a given (central) Italian reference population (Medieval Romans) than is any other group.

Now, remember the Der Movement mantra:

1. “Italy is only a geographical expression.”

2. “Northern Italians are Celto-Germanics, while Southern Italians are North African-Middle Easterners (or perhaps Nigerians).”

To which we can reply:
