It was only around the 1980s that some of them started calling themselves non-White. It’s a long subject, but they’re essentially a peripheral Mediterranean population, not entirely too different from Greeks and Sicilians. If only they’d knock it off with the maladaptive behavior, they’d be a lot better accepted.
